Our Constitution

The South African Table Tennis Board (SATTB) is the official custodian and leading authority of table tennis in South Africa, entrusted with advancing a sport that carries both competitive excellence and profound historical significance. Table tennis in South Africa played a pioneering role in the fight against apartheid before 1991, standing as one of the sports that refused to accept segregation and exclusion. At a time when division defined much of society, table tennis demonstrated the unifying power of sport, proving that talent, dignity, and opportunity transcend race, background, and circumstance. This legacy of courage, justice, and unity remains embedded in the identity of SATTB today.

Guided by this history, the SATTB is committed to growing, developing, and professionalising the sport across every level, from schools and community halls to national teams competing on the continental and global stage. Diversity, inclusivity, and the development of the game,  especially within underserved and previously marginalised communities, are not peripheral goals; they are the foundation upon which the federation stands. We believe table tennis is uniquely positioned to transform lives: it is accessible, adaptable, and capable of nurturing discipline, confidence, and opportunity in young people across urban and rural South Africa alike.

The SATTB works to create structured pathways for athletes, coaches, officials, and administrators, ensuring that talent is identified, nurtured, and supported. Through strong governance, provincial partnerships, capacity building, and alignment with international standards, we are building a modern, sustainable federation that balances transformation with high performance. Our mission goes beyond managing competitions, we are developing people, strengthening communities, and using sport as a tool for social cohesion and nation-building.

As the bedrock of table tennis in South Africa, the SATTB embraces innovation, professionalism, and collaboration to ensure the sport remains relevant and future-focused.

We are committed to expanding access, raising standards, and positioning South African table tennis as a force that is fast, precise, inclusive, and globally competitive. Rooted in a legacy of resistance and unity, we move forward with a clear purpose: to ensure that every table, in every community, can be a platform for talent, dignity, and possibility.
